SC FitnessGram Influencer Kit: more than a product, more than a plan

Sometimes the best projects don’t just produce a polished product — they change and even transform how people connect, talk, and lead. That’s exactly what happened with the new SC FitnessGram Influencer Kit. On the surface, sure, it’s a digital guide. But it’s really so much more.

This kit was designed to give educators, parents, community leaders, and policymakers the tools they need to talk about student health in the same way, with the same language, and with the same energy. Because if everyone’s using different words, the message gets muddled. And this issue is too important to be muddled.

Building More Than a Guide

For this reason, this project wasn’t just about creating a slick PDF. Over the last couple of years, we have worked side by side with the SC FitnessGram team to craft the messages— the words and ideas that would anchor every conversation. We built videos that tell the story in ways that data alone can’t. We pulled together success stories from schools across the state. We even thought about the right kind of photography to use, because the images should make you feel the joy and energy of kids being active.

Every page, every link, every design choice was intentional. We didn’t want to create another resource that sits on a shelf. The goal was to build something people actually use — a one-stop shop that influencers can open up before a presentation, while preparing remarks, or even on the spot during a conversation.

Why This Work Matters

South Carolina’s students are facing real challenges when it comes to health and fitness. And those challenges don’t just affect their physical well-being. They touch everything — from how ready a student is to learn in the classroom to how prepared they are to succeed in a job after graduation.

That’s why SC FitnessGram is so important. It’s not just about collecting data. It’s about using that data to change policies, inform programs, and make sure kids have the opportunities they deserve.

And this Influencer Kit? It’s about making sure that message gets out loud and clear.

A Model for What’s Possible

For us at 1000 Feathers, this project is a perfect example of the kind of work we love to do:

  • Helping organizations tell their story;

  • Creating tools that are well designed, practical, and usable; and

  • Building things that last beyond the launch.

The SC FitnessGram Influencer Kit isn’t just a resource — it’s a movement-builder. And we’re proud to have been part of bringing it to life.

If you’d like to see the kit for yourself — or talk about how we can build something like this for your organization — send us a message.

“The team at 1000 Feathers quickly became part of our work family. They joined our councils and committees, showing up as colleagues we could count on. By immersing themselves in our mission, they made our priorities their own, which led to the creation of truly impactful resources.” - Erica Ayers, SC FitnessGram
